FAQS

1. What should I expect?

Expect to have fun!  First and foremost.  After our session is scheduled, I will email you a week or so before to confirm and go over details, such as the exact time we will meet and where.  We can also discuss at that time any special requests you have, outfit changes, or props you may want to use.  Also, if you have certain ideas of how you want your photos to look, please let me know!  I love new and fresh ideas and am game for anything.  If the session has children involved, you can let me know the kids' ages and any particular likes or dislikes.  It always helps to 'know' the kid ahead of time so they aren't taken off guard.

The day of the session, we will meet at our pre-arranged location and just have fun!  No need to pose and stage photos...the moments will happen.  I am just there to capture them!  I will spend up to two hours with you and your family and/or kids.  We will walk around, have fun and capture your family's smiles.

2.  What should I wear?

I always get asked for suggestions on what to wear....or what NOT to wear.

My rule of thumb is to pick something that you think you (or your child) look good in! You do not have to try to match every color to everyone else in your family. Most colors go well together. And, while there will be several family images taken, there are also a majority of individual pictures as well.

Everyone always obsesses about it matching perfectly, but if you think about when you look at other people's family pictures, you rarely notice their outfits. So pick something that you like to wear! Same goes for the kids. Pick something that accentuates their features or their personalities. Its all about capturing the moment!

Some tips?  Complimenting outfits look much better than matching outfits!  Compliment the colors...don't try to match! Bright, bold colors are fun.  Textures and patterns look good on everyone.  And try to stay away from logos or character shirts...unless your child's favorite all time shirt is that same Elmo shirt he wears everyday.  Then by all means, let him wear it.  It will be fun to remember that favorite shirt.  :)

Also be sure to bring extra makeup (ladies), a brush, wipes (for kids and babies) and/or any pins or clips you may need for hair.  Don't forget the extras!

3. When can I expect to get my pictures back?

After your session, I will select and edit the best of the best pictures that were taken and put them all on a CD/DVD for you.  You will be notified via email (or other method if pre-arranged) when your DVD is complete and we can arrange a pickup or dropoff time and/or meeting place.  This is typically no longer than two weeks from the date of your session.

4.  How many pictures will be on my CD/DVD?

For a mini-session, you can expect 20-30 pictures.  For a senior session, you can expect 30-40 pictures.  For a full family session, you can expect from 40-50 pictures.  You can guarantee that every moment will be captured, but its hard to put a number on exactly how many pictures it will end up being with regards to a wedding.

5. Do you have a studio?

No.  I work exclusively on location with natural light, which is the light available at the time.  Natural light produces the most natural-looking images.  Working with only available light gives me the opportunity to make dramatic creative pictures.

6. What time of day will the session be?

Unfortunately the sun is at its brightest during the middle of the day and will produce hotspots, unflattering shadows and high contrast.  The best lighting time is about 2 hrs after sunrise and 2 hrs before sunset.

7. Where will the session take place?

I have a list of places around the BCS area that are most flattering and accommodating.  When you contact me to schedule your session we will discuss the location.  I can offer suggestions to you or if you have something in mind, we can discuss that as well.  But we will pick a location prior to your session.

8. What do I do if it's raining?

When we make contact to confirm our appointment, I will give you my contact information and I will get yours.  You will still come to your scheduled shoot unless you hear from me!  Even if its cloudy, we will still go ahead as scheduled (some of those make the best photos!).  Even a few drizzles, we can make do.  Or sometimes your shoot will fall between the sporadic showers that Texas weather often gives us.  So, unless you hear from me, we will go ahead as scheduled!

9.  When is money due?

A $50 non-refundable retainer fee is due at the time the appointment is made in order to secure your time slot.  That payment may be mailed or delivered in person and must be received no later than a week prior to your scheduled session.

The remainder of your session fee will be due at the time of your session.  Cash or check is accepted only.

10.  What if I  am running late to my session or need to cancel or reschedule?

It is very important to be on time for your session.  If you are not prepared or are late, this will cut into your session time as we are limited to the lighting that's available at that time.

Appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled within 10 days prior to the session.  Retainer fee is non-refundable, however due to the nature of the business.  If you would like to reschedule your appt (at least 10 days prior), your retainer fee will be transferred to the new session date.  I do understand kids get sick and things happen.  I will work with you to the best of my ability should these such rarities happen.  Brandy Scott Photography reserves the right to reschedule due to illness, weather, or other circumstances beyond control.  Cancellations and/or rescheduling questions must be made in writing (no later than 10 days prior to your session) via email at brandyscottphotography@yahoo.com .

11.  After I get my CD/DVD, can I print or share any image?  Do you include a copyright release?

Once you have your CD/DVD, you may print, share, upload or anything with your pictures.  They are YOUR pictures.  However, I do ask that no editing or altering be done without written consent.  These images reflect MY work and they should not be altered in any way.

Included written on your CD/DVD is a copyright release.

12. Will you use my pictures for advertising?

By allowing Brandy Scott Photography to take your pictures, you are also allowing the business to use any of the pictures on the website, blog or Facebook page.  If you wish for your name or children's names to not be used, you may let me know and I will honor that request.

13. Do I get ALL the pictures you take?

I go through all of your images from your session several times and select THE best photos based on my standard and edit them individually to create works of art.  Having too many files can be overwhelming for anyone and will take away from the best images.  I will only include those images.  Any images that are not included are determined, by me, to be not as strong in composition, lighting, exposure, blinking or repetition.  However, you will receive all the edited images on your disc.

14.  Does it cost less if I don't want them edited?

Images will only be delivered to you as a finished product.  The raw images are not available to the customer at the this time.

15.  How do I schedule a session with you?
